Psychological & Neuropsychological Assessment

Individual therapy at San Diego Mindfulness Center offers compassionate, connected, client-focused support through a mindfulness lens. Our therapists integrate mindfulness-based principles with approaches like cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and psychodynamic and existential therapy, matching the approach to you rather than the other way around.

Who Assessment Can Help

  • Personality, intelligence, or memory

  • ADHD or other attention-related concerns

  • Neurocognitive disorders

  • Diagnostic clarity before starting or adjusting medication

  • Possible effects of a brain injury or head trauma

  • Learning disorders or academic difficulties

  • Career direction, strengths, or fit

Assessments can also help guide a child's academic path by ruling in or ruling out issues like learning disorders or ADHD — information that's often just as useful for parents and teachers as it is for treatment planning. The wrong diagnosis can lead to unnecessary medication or misguided treatment, which is exactly what a thorough assessment is designed to prevent.

Types of Assessment We Offer

Cognitive testing

Evaluating intelligence, memory, processing speed, and related cognitive functions.

Personality testing

Providing insight into personality structure and functioning.

Diagnostic evaluation

Clarifying diagnosis to guide treatment and, where relevant, medication decisions.

Neuropsychological testing

Assessing the effects of brain injury, head trauma, or neurocognitive concerns on functioning.

Career assessment

Identifying strengths, interests, and work styles to guide career direction or transition.

ADHD & learning disorder evaluation

Supporting academic planning and appropriate accommodations for children and adolescents.

For Referring Providers

If you're a physician, therapist, or school counselor considering an assessment referral, our associate marriage and family therapists can conduct initial screenings to help determine whether comprehensive testing is warranted. From there, our assessment team, led by Dr. Lindsay Kittredge, conducts the full evaluation in-house and virtually, and we're happy to share results and recommendations with your office as part of coordinated care, with proper consent.

What to Expect

Assessment typically begins with a brief consultation to understand what's prompting the evaluation, followed by virtual testing sessions with one of our assessment clinicians. You'll receive a comprehensive report with findings and treatment recommendations, which we're glad to share with any referring provider or school with your consent.

Before your first session, see our New Patient Information & FAQ and Notice of Privacy Practices.
