Couples Therapy
A relationship goes through many phases over its life cycle, and it's normal to hit rough patches along the way. The strength of a relationship isn't measured by whether those patches happen, but by how a couple works through them and moves forward. Our approach to couples therapy is oriented not only toward solving the problems a couple faces, but toward reviving the feeling of love and connection between partners. We work with couples of all configurations and sexual orientations.

Feeling more like roommates than partners
Being intimate with another person is one of life's most rewarding experiences, and also one of its most complicated. If sharing your life with your partner has started to feel harder than it should, that's worth bringing into a session, whether or not you're in the middle of a crisis.
Our Approach
We draw on mindfulness-based principles alongside evidence-informed couples approaches, helping partners understand the patterns, reactions, and old wounds that tend to surface in relationships, and build new, healthier ways of relating to each other. Our work together isn't only about resolving conflict. It's about supporting and reviving the connection, love, and affection that brought you together in the first place.
What to Expect
Your first step is a brief consultation to talk through what's bringing you and your partner to therapy and find the clinician who's the right fit for you both. From there, most couples begin with weekly sessions, in person at our Hillcrest or Carmel Valley office, with the pace adjusted over time based on your goals.
Before your first session, see our New Patient Information & FAQ and Notice of Privacy Practices.
